The Dijon Event Tradition wants, ever since the beginning, that we should try to offer more than just excellent teaching, lecturing and learning during these four days to the people who elected to spend some time with us here in Burgundy. Therefore, here are a few "extras" to which all Phase I registered delegates are entitled :

First of all, the now traditional commemorative T-shirt : everyone will get his individual T-shirt, fit to his/her size. We will even have a few extra T-shirts, should you want to bring some of them home to your friends or significant ones so that they can brag they were here while they were not.

This T-shirt will be inculded in a "Welcome Pack", along with other things.

Thus, every registered delegate will be offered, among the many presents he will get upon meeting up with the organisation, a voucher entitling him to a free half-pint of draught beer at the pub Le Cappuccino, 132 rue Berbisey in Dijon (excess of alcohol is harmful) : just give the voucher to the barkeep, and he will give you a beer with a smile :) or another beverage that will be specified in time.

During the event, the available beer will be La Mandubienne, from a local brewery nearby, in Feney. This top fermentation beer made the delight of last year's people, and not only for the picture they chose for the label. But your choice is of course not limited to that beverage. And you are totally free to use other people's voucher (We don't really want to know how you'll get them - but please remember that blackmail, bribery or outright violence are bad. Generally speaking).

Also, just like last year we will run a Special Raffle :

For only 5 euros a ticket (you can buy more than one ticket per person), you will have the opportunity to win various prizes that will satisfy any Historical European Martial Arts enthusiast - provided luck smiles...In 2006, thanks to the generosity of Matt Galas, a Paul Chen one handed sword, and a Paul Chen longsword were part of the prizes ; and so was a roundel dagger of the Burgundian style (late XVth century, made after two pieces of the Armoury in Vienna) entirely hand-made by Fabrice Cognot (see the pics below). And Last Year, fabrice Cognot also offered an Heraldic-type Burgundian dagger, inspired by an original of the XIVth century kept in Chalon-sur-Saône - but there were more prizes, offered by Colin Richards, Yannick Epiard and others.

Among the 2008 raffle prizes, we are happy to announce that Szabolcs Waldmann offers a knife (and sheath) of his own making - of which we hope to post pictures soon. We have also been told that Fabrice Cognot was working on a special project...

Another popular feature this year : the longsword tournament, run by the Arts d'Armes (Paris). Last year's champion Pedrag Nicolic (Zornhau, Germany) is hopefully ready to defend his title and his honor, with courage and pride.

And finally, the Saturday Night Grand Dinner will put your Historical European Martial Arts knowledge to the test, with the now traditionnal quizz, written in 2008 by last year's winners.
